FORMER brothel keeper Lindi St Clair is lucky to be alive after being trapped upside down in her car in a river for almost 24 hours.

Ms St Clair, once known as Miss Whiplash, left the road at Maiden Hyde, Risbury, near Leominster and went 15ft down an embankment at around 3pm.

John Hawker, ambulance press officer, said: "The woman was treated at the scene by medics for a head injury and also serious crush injuries to her arm and pelvis.

"She was extracted by the fire service while receiving continuous emergency treatment.

"Due to the serious injuries the woman had sustained and the position of the jeep it took around an hour for her to be removed from the vehicle.

Ms St Clair, aged 56, was airlifted to Selly Oak Major Trauma Unit for further treatment.

Her condition is currently "poorly but stable".

Police said the road was very remote and they think that the crash happened on Thursday afternoon.

Anyone with any information should contact PC Prater or the Roads Policing Team on 0300 333 3000.

• Ms St Clair claimed a number of MPs and other senior public figures were among her clients in the 1980s and at one time was pursued through the courts for non-payment of income tax.

She once stood for Parliament campaigning for more liberal sex laws and later moved to Risbury where she runs a duck farm.
