A HAY-ON-WYE woman who spent a decade developing the town’s Dial-a-Ride scheme has retired.
Service administrator Rosemary Lally helped the charity grow from its inception ten years ago and has watched operations gradually expand.
From one vehicle in the beginning Dial-a-Ride now operates a bus and a smaller vehicle within a nine-mile radius of Hay and also a Community Car scheme visiting most local hospitals.
Service users, the management team and office staff presented Rosemary, who combined her efforts with a 36-year career in local government, with a framed picture of the River Wye, a cheque and some flowers by way of a thankyou.
Organisers are also looking for more volunteer drivers. To help call 01497 82161.
