FRENCH students were attacked in a robbery in Hereford city centre.
The robbery saw two students assaulted and a bag stolen in Cathedral Close on Wednesday (July 30) at around 8.15pm.
The police say a group of six to eight youths approached a small group of French students.
After a brief conversation, one of the gang attempted to grab the bag that one of the students was putting over his shoulder.
The student was allegedly hit several times but did not release the bag.
Meanwhile, a fellow student was set upon by three other youths and allegedly punched in the nose, causing his bag to fall.
The bag, containing cash, a wallet and a camera, was stolen.
The police say the youths walked calmly away from the scene towards St Owens Street.
The bag was later recovered nearby. The police launched an immediate search of the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
The youths are believed to be 17-19 years of age. All were wearing dark tracksuit bottoms, hoodies (some light and dark blue), white trainers and some wore caps. One had a shaved head.
