After a few slack weeks and it seeming impossible to find a spare minute in the day to get myself into the gym I've made a bit of an effort to get back on track and do some exercise.
I live near a small deer park with a grass path around it's perimeter which is ideal for a quick jog around when I get the opportunity. (not very often just lately!) Last weekend when my son was away I got up early before I had any other distractions and managed to squeeze in a couple of laps, which gave me a big boost of renewed enthusiam and made me feel good for the rest of the day. I've vowed to try and do it at least once a week from now on as it only takes twenty minutes or so, but we'll see how long that lasts...
I had a really good workout this Saturday to get me back into the swing of things, and spent a good couple of hours in the gym. I did a thirty minute run on the treadmill, loads and loads of abs (a bit of a problem area) and some free weights to tone up my arms. I woke up Sunday morning feeling very stiff, but really pleased with myself for making the effort. I'm back at work this week and trying to plan my lunch hours/evenings/free time to try and make sure I leave some aside to fit in some exercise. I'm definitely in no doubt that exercising really does benefit more than just your body - it is great for the mind as well. It's just a case of finding somewhere to fit it into your normal routine.
