Strike will shut schools

SCHOOLS will close across Herefordshire on Thursday when the National Union of Teachers holds a nationwide strike.

Aylestone High School and Wyebridge Sports College will close in Hereford, while Weobley High School will also shut its doors.

Years seven, eight and 10 pupils at Minster College are being asked to stay at home while years seven and eight students will not have lessons at Whitecross High School.

The primary schools that will close are Much Birch, Weobley, St Francis Xavier, Orleton and St James in Hereford.

Westfields Special School will be partially closed.

The council estimates that 4,122 county children will be affected by the strike.
