Firefighters' funding boost for forces

STAFF and officers at Hereford Fire Station have raised more than £400 towards a national campaign.

The money will go to the Help for Heroes campaign, providing help and support for members of the Armed Forces injured while serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The money will also go to the SSAFA Forces Help charity which helps injured servicemen as well as helping their families.

Around £450 was raised after Hereford firefighter Stewart Dewar helped collect funds from employees at the St Owen Street station.

Members of Hereford Fire Station presented Coleen Tudor, of SSAFA, with a cheque following the fund-raising efforts.
