FRIENDS of Rotherwas Chapel gathered at the chapel on April 21 to remember women and men died in the First World War either at the Front or working at the Rotherwas munitions factories.
Three letters from France were read - one from a Scottish soldier who had begun a romance with one of the 'Canary Girls' who had included her name and address in an ammunition box.
Familiar First World War songs were sung - Keep the Home Fires Burning and It's a Long Way to Tipperary.
Attendees also laid silk poppies - red for the soldiers and yellow ones for the munitions makers - on the altar in memory of each of the individuals lost from the Rotherwas community.
