THE Much Marcle Steam Rally has been pulling in the crowds for years.

The popular annual event, held over a weekend each July, sees visitors travel from across the country, and overseas, to attend.

Many of the committee members have been touched by the work of their hospice, leading to them choosing to donate a wonderful £7,500, collected over the years, to St Michael's.

The money will go towards the purchase of mattresses for the Inpatient Wing.

'It's a very good cause and one which has touched the lives of so many of us,' said committee member, Dot Pullen.

The first Much Marcle Steam Rally took place more than 30 years ago and this year, it will be held over the weekend of July 21-22.

'We're so grateful to the Much Marcle Steam Rally Committee for donating this money,' said Ruth Denison, the hospice's income generation and marketing director.

'Support like this is vital to St Michael's and we're thankful to all those in our community who give up their time for the benefit of others.'
