A SERVICE which aims to help residents meet their health and wellbeing needs will no longer have a city centre base.

The county's WISH service, run by Herefordshire Council, currently has a hub based at Hereford Library in Broad Street but this service will close on March 28.

The service will then only be available online.

The website covers information, advice, services and activities for residents of all ages across the county, to help people take control of their own wellbeing needs and connect them to their local communities.

Councillor Paul Rone, cabinet member for health and wellbeing, said the council is closing the hub to focus "resources on continuing to improve the website and maximise its benefit across the county."

He said: “The WISH website is a fantastic local resource, which is free and easy to access.

"The website doesn’t just focus on health related topics, it covers so much more, including housing, carers support, transport, legal and financial advice, bereavement support and home adaptations.

"The extensive range of information and advice available will enable people to live safely and happily within their own homes and communities.

“Our aim is to make WISH the central point for all organisations and community groups across the county to promote the services and activities they offer, which will effectively create a ‘one stop shop’ for residents."

Coun Rone thanked Services for Independent Living (SIL), which has run the service for the last three years.

On the website, providers can promote their services to residents, so people are fully informed about what is available to meet their needs.

The website has some new features, including a new design which makes it easier to navigate, an improved search function, more up to date and relevant information and a what’s on calendar and news section.
