TWELVE students in Year 9 at John Kyrle High School have been given the opportunity to receive training in sports leadership throughout this academic year.
One of the highlights of the year for their training is to help run, officiate and supervise young people in a variety of activities at the Winter Games.
JKHS were selected to officiate the Inclusion Football and Inclusion Archery and Poppy Godwin volunteered to act as the mascot and got all the participants warmed up during the open ceremony with the help of Mia Chambers and Lucy Davies.
Peter Knight, of the Herefordshire School Games Local Organising Committee commented that "They grew into their roles, exhibiting high levels of empathy, encouragement and concentration".
These students will continue to receive training in other areas of sports coaching before they take on a variety of roles as young leaders at the Herefordshire Summer Games in July.
