The teenager who was killed in a crash between a car and a lorry on the main road between Hereford and Worcester this week has been named by friends on a fundraising page.

Macca Davies died when his Renault Clio and an Iveco truck collided on the A4103 in Storridge on Monday morning.

The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30s, was arrested by police on suspicion of causing death by careless driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

Friends said 18-year-old Macca, a former student at John Masefield High School in Ledbury, was a 'wonderful, caring, warm hearted, and kind young man'.

Writing on Facebook, Christine Allen said everyone’s thoughts are with his parents and friends.

She added that Colwall Wanderers, a football team Macca represented this season, would be wearing black arm bands and will hold a minute's applause before their game on Sunday morning.

"We’d like to openly invite anyone who’d like to come across and pay their respects," said Christine.

"We have had several people asking and would like to see it as an opportunity for anyone to come along and applaud a true gentleman."

Everyone is welcome at the game which kicks off at 10.30am on Colwall Village Green.

Meanwhile, a fundraising appeal has been started via an internet site to help raise the costs to pay for the teenager's funeral.

A target of £2,000 was set but, at the time of writing on Wednesday night, a sum topping £6,000 had already been pledged.

"Our community of Cradley, Mathan and Storridge and outlying areas are completely reeling with the devastating news that Simon and Kay have lost their son, Macca in a car accident," the appeal states.

"Everyone knows what a close family they are and hopefully with the support of close family and friends, in time they may find a way through in coping with the complete devastation to their lives.

"This crowd funding has been set up to take the pressure off them so they can grieve as a family without the immediate worry of financial pressures.

"All proceeds will go to the family to take care of immediate costs that they may incur."
