A MAN in his 30s has been arrested following a fatal crash on the Hereford to Worcester road this morning.

He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving when driving under the influence of drink or drugs.

The crash in Storridge, opposite Millbank Garage on the A4103 at the Cradley junction involved a black Renault Clio and a white Iveco lorry.

The driver of the Renault, a teenage man, was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called just before 7.55am.

One ambulance, a paramedic officer and two MARS doctors attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find the car driver, a man, in cardiac arrest.

“Bystanders had already commenced CPR which ambulance staff continued as well as administering advanced life support.

“However, sadly it became apparent that nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the lorry, a man, was uninjured in the incident and was discharged at the scene following assessment from ambulance staff.”

MARS is the Mercia Accident Rescue Service, a charitable organisation.

The road, which was closed earlier today, has now been re-opened.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the two vehicles prior to this, to contact them on 101 quoting reference 72s of 5 March.

Update: Police said the man who was arrested was the driver of the lorry and he has been released under investigation.
