A BREAKFAST club for veterans which helps tackle loneliness is branching out and opening one in Leominster.

Hereford Veterans Breakfast Club opened last April and runs fortnightly from The Imperial in Widemarsh Street.

The club is for anyone who has served in any of the Armed Forces and their families.

From March 10 there will also be a fortnightly club in Leominster.

Organiser Lynne Gladwin said: "We are going from strength to strength.

"We are linked with an NHS taskforce to combat isolation and loneliness. We are getting quite recognised."

She said she found that through her own experience former military personnel don't know what services are available for them and can become isolated and in their own world.

She said: "Sometimes people will get depressed and lonely and go to the doctors. Sometimes it is not the doctor they need, they just need something else. The breakfast club is a great way for them to get out and get talking.

"A lot of people find out they have so much in common."

Ms Gladwin, aged 46 and from Weobley, wants to help people in Leominster as well as Hereford. For more information contact Lynne Gladwin on 07964 011353 or join Hereford Breakfast Club on Facebook.

The next meet in Hereford is on March 4 at 9.30am. Meet in Leominster at The Duke's Head (Wetherspoon) on March 10 at 9.30am.
