February's folk performance at The Courtyard sees Mawkin take to the stage.

Known for their energetic approach and DIY ethic, Mawkin are a five piece group described by audiences as a 'modern day Fairport'. With a host of rebel rousing folk songs and instrumentals, the band modernise traditional folk material with their own touch and leave audiences excited with their artillery of loud, boisterous, foot stomping live sets.

Mawkin supported Bellowhead on their 2016 farewell tour in between festivals and UK tour dates whilst members of band have worked closely with other musicians on the folk scene. Vocalists James and David Delarre have been involved musically with Eliza Carthy and Norma Waterson while melodeon player Nick Cooke also performs with Kate Rusby and False Lights.

The combined wealth of musical experience of Mawkin resulted in their 2015 self-produced and critically acclaimed album The Ties That Bind.

Mawkin will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre on Thursday, February 22 at 8pm. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk.
