A ROSS-on-Wye singer has decided to use music to express her story of healing from anorexia and depression.

April Shipton will share her music and story in a series of special live shows starting in Ross.

The events, called Bigger Than Dreams, launch on Monday, February 19 from 7.30pm at Ross Baptist Church.

The evening features live acoustic music from April and her dad, Doug Hadfield, and also April’s story of healing from anorexia and depression.

April’s contemporary Christian music and account of healing features on national Christian radio playlists and has led her to perform at The Hay Festival with BBC Introducing Hereford and Worcester.

April hopes her music, lyrics and experiences will inspire people to explore their own beliefs and encourage them to pursue a life that’s ‘bigger than dreams’.

She said: “My life was saved that day I was healed. Anorexia wanted me dead, but God wanted me alive.

"In the years since then, God has used that experience to bring me through struggles with self-doubt, rebellion, and fear into a full-time singing profession. I want to use my talents and passions to help others, that’s why I want Bigger Than Dreams to be free and available to all.”

Due to the detail shared in her personal account, the evening may not be suitable for children, but young people are welcome. April believes it may be particularly helpful to those experiencing their own struggles in life or exploring faith for the first time.

Seating on the evening is limited. Advanced booking is recommended. Email dreams@aprilshipton.co.uk for more information or to reserve a seat.
