A VILLAGE shop could be knocked down to make way for a new one.

Planning permission is sought to knock down the existing Peterstow shop and build a smaller shop, including Post Office services.

The applicant also wants to build four new homes behind the shop with a new driveway.

Two detached four-bed homes and two semi-detached two-bedroom homes would be built if planning approval was granted.

The retail area has been reduced from the original size to endeavour to produce a more sustainable retail business. The present owner will not be continuing his business as shopkeeper in the new premises.

A larger more accessible car park is also proposed.
