LEDBURY Primary School pupils met some unusual characters when Harold the Giraffe, Kiki the Kangaroo and Derek the Penguin visited the school in the Life Education Bus.

In the specially kitted out area with colourful screens, short films and displays, the sessions are fun, engaging and memorable, whilst exploring how choices and behaviours can affect dreams and aspirations.

Group leader Julie expertly included interaction with the pupils challenging social norms to engender more positive behaviours. Several schools in the area have benefited from these visits, including Eastnor and Bromesberrow, each of which have been funded by the Rotary Club of Ledbury as part of its service in the community and organised by Rotarian Martin Perry.

The nationwide CORAM Life Education programme (CLE) has been developed to help pupils and students navigate feelings, friendships, relationships, and to be 'cyberwise' and stay safe from harm. The programme includes a comprehensive set of lesson plans, activities, teacher and parent guidance, aligned with recommended content set by the Department for Education.

Rotary president David Houghton remarked that he was delighted bring about the opportunity for pupils to take advantage of the Life Education programme as part of Rotary in the Community to benefit all.
