THE village of Woolhope marked the official opening of the new climbing frame with a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 23, 2017.

There was mulled cider, apple juice and mince pies provided at the ceremony and everyone was kept warm by some Swedish fire logs.

The ribbon was cut by Norman Williams, before a group of very excited children were the first to play on the new climbing frame.

The climbing frame is made from red cedar, which until recently was growing in the grounds of St George's Church, Woolhope.

It was great to use locally grown materials to build such a fabulous village asset.

The climbing frame was built by Toby Fairs-Billiam of The Odd Job Octopus (oddjoboctopus.co.uk).

The parish, and the local children, could not be more pleased with his dedication to the project, his excellent work and the end result.

The opening of the climbing frame marked the completion of phase one of the Woolhope playground improvements.

Phase two includes moving the fence to surround the new equipment, modernising the ground surface under the existing playground equipment, and installing a new swing suitable for babies and very young children.

Fundraising for phase two has already begun; if anyone would like to make a donation, please contact the Woolhope Parish Clerk on whopepc@hotmail.com
