IMPRESSIVE Alcester got their title charge back on track after deflating rivals Dunlop 50-26 in Midlands 3 West South.

It put paid to the previous week's disappointing defeat against bottom side Bromyard as Alcester propelled themselves back up to fifth spot, just eight points adrift of joint leaders Shipston and Rugby St Andrews.

Despite the high scoring, it took 20 minutes before the scoreboard started ticking over.

Top try scorer Jack Green led the way with a hat-trick of touchdowns while centre Jamie Harland added two more.

There were further tries from George Green and Josh O'Connor who came on as a first half substitute to produce an outstanding display despite playing out of position on the wing.

Fly-half Max Biltcliffe completed the scoring by kicking four conversions and a penalty.

An early injury to winger Alex Chiles only added to Alcester's growing casualty list but his departure didn't disrupt the rhythm.

But on a brighter note, Ben Hope returned to the ranks following a lengthy lay-off while fellow forwards Sam Lear and Lee Avery Sherwood should soon be back in contention, both having missed most of the season so far with injury.

The first team have no fixture this week while the second XV entertain their Coventrian counterparts.

The Seconds will be flying high following their 59-0 thrashing of Atherstone 2's.

Stephen Mason led the scoring spree with three tries while Jamie Miller added two more.

Rich Harrison, Alec Aucott, Chris Howell, Tom Golder, Luke Jones and Elliott Evans also added their names to the scoresheet while veteran Paul Taylor kicked the remaining points.
