Cyclist assaulted on bridge

A CYCLIST has been assaulted on the Old Bridge in Hereford after an altercation with a motorist.

The victim was cycling over the bridge next to the Saracens Head just before 6pm on Saturday, July 14 when a black VW car stopped at an angle, causing the cyclist to fall. The altercation then occured which resulted in the victim being assaulted.

A passing member of the public offered assistance to the cyclist and the motorist got back into the car and drove towards the swimming baths. The car was believed to be a Golf model and the male driver had a female passenger.

Anyone who witnessed the assault or has information on the driver should contact PC Martin Carr at Hereford Police Station on 08457 444888.
