WINNERS of the Hay Camera Club photograph of the year 2017 competition have been chosen.
Over 70 digital and printed images from club members were judged independently by Peter Young at a special event earlier this month.
First prize was awarded to Charles Jenkins-Jones, from Pentre Felin near Sennybridge, with his entry of 'Malham wall and tree'.
“The composition is simple but beautiful," said Peter, "the more I looked at the photograph, the better I liked it.”
Second place went to Dainis Ozols, of Painscastle, whose photograph titled 'Taking off without windscreen' included a car in the Wales GB rally at Sweet Lamb.
“The photographer has caught the action beautifully," added Peter. "Superb position. I love the lighting.”
Hay Camera Club is currently exhibiting at St Peter’s Church in Peterchurch.
The club meets most Tuesdays evenings throughout the year when the events include talks, learning events, practical sessions, competitions with other clubs including one in New Zealand.
The club also organises photography trips which recently have included rallycross, an old mill, waterfalls and a re-enactment event.
