A TEENAGER was found with £170 worth of cannabis down his trouser leg after being arrested by police, magistrates heard.

Jake Hoskins-Peel, 18, of Withies Close, Withington, pleaded guilty to possessing cannabis at Hereford Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Kriss Ewing, prosecuting, said that on March 8, police arrested Hoskins-Peel on an unrelated matter.

When police searched him they found a large amount of cannabis worth £170 down his trouser leg.

He was arrested and made full admission during an interview. He told police it was his cannabis and that he smoked the drug regularly.

Chris Read, mitigating, said that the nine months since the offence Hoskins-Peel had used to his benefit.

"Ultimately he was a young man who was 17 at the time of the offence," said Mr Read.

"The amount was fairly significant as he used to bulk purchase. He had a habit of saving his money and buying a bulk amount and then not making a purchase for a considerable length of time.

"There has been good work done within the family in the last nine months and there has been no further offending."

Magistrates handed Hoskins-Peel a conditional discharge for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £50 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.
