I HAVE lived in Roman Road, Hereford, for almost 40 years, and am now extremely concerned about the volume of traffic using it.

I know that some of the increase may be put down to the temporary closure of Newtown Road, but this is not my worry.

My concerns are that there is a new estate already in the process of being built by Bloor Homes opposite Aylesbrook, and now we have been told of two further planning applications by Taylor Wimpey for the development off Roman Road on the old Cot Barn Industrial Estate and further development off the Canon Pyon Road, which will also have an effect on the Roman Road.

This to me is absolutely absurd – the traffic is now horrendous, with queues for much of the day, and the thought of two further developments beggars belief.

Traffic already uses the Roman Road as a rat run and one had to use extreme care when leaving one’s home.

There was a recent forum with Taylor Wimpey at the racecourse, but unfortunately my wife and I were abroad on holiday and unable to attend.

I have since been furnished with copies of the proposed developments which I have studied thoroughly leading to my concerns.

I have spoken with several of the neighbours who voice the same opinion.

Another question – where are these people going to work?

Further to this I am worried about the loss of habitat for the wildlife – barn owns have frequently nested in the old Cot Barn and regular summer visitors to the fields behind us are skylarks, curlews, and not forgetting the cuckoo.
