A DEVELOPER plans to build 225 new homes on land to the south of Hereford.

Taylor Wimpey is putting together a planning application to build approximately 225 new homes on land to the north and south of Grafton Lane.

The plans propose to close the current access point onto Grafton Lane and create a new signal controlled junction opposite the entrance to the ambulance station.

The existing properties on the lane would access Ross Road via the proposed development site and the new junction.

A consultation event was held at Hereford Academy on Tuesday night and the plans so far are available to view online.

The developer is proposing a wide range of homes including family homes, starter homes and smaller homes for downsizing.

A new play area and public open space is also proposed.

The site extends over almost 11 hectares either side of Grafton Lane.

The land is bordered by the railway line to the north and the A49 Ross Road to the east, with Brandon Lodge hotel and the offices of Golden Pioneer Travel to the south east.

To the west are residential properties and directly south is agricultural land.

The proposal is for 7.01 hectares of housing on the 10.9 hectare site, which equates to approximately 225 dwellings, or 32 homes per hectare.

An application for planning permission will be submitted soon to Herefordshire Council.
