A FOOTBALL star has endorsed the work of a Hereford charity who provide wigs for children going through cancer treatment.

Manchester United football star Juan Mata has declared his support for the boys' section of the Little Princess Trust named ‘Hero by LPT’.

Hero by LPT provides real hair wigs for boys and young men up to the age of 24 who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment or other medical conditions.

Juan said: "As a footballer, confidence is a game changer, both on and off the pitch.

"If I feel confident, I feel like I can deal with anything. Losing your hair as a result of cancer treatment or because of other illness can knock a person's confidence. LPT and Hero by LPT are making a real difference to the lives of children."

The charity’s recent biennial ball raised a grand total of £17,000. A signed Manchester United shirt sold for £1,000 alone. Other popular lots included tickets to a Harry Styles gig in Birmingham, donated by Harry himself (the popstar donated his own hair to the charity in 2016); a week’s holiday in a Spanish villa and a haircut and style with celebrity hairdresser, Andrew Barton.
