SIR – J Pogmore is right to give it “wellie” over our referendum vote, “Don’t you want a democracy,”

(Letters, November 11).

I don’t care whether our referendum was “advisory” or not, didn’t Government leaflets, delivered to every home in the country, say, “This is your decision. The Government will implement

what you decide?” We decided “Out.” And “Out” is what we must have: lock stock and barrel!

Legally we are not obliged to pay Europe a farthing to leave, so Mrs May must refuse to pay Europe tens

of billions more of our money, and simply tell Europe to go to hell!

Can’t we see, from the Brexit “negotiations,” that Europe doesn’t give a fig for this country, or its

people?

Weren’t the so-called Brexit negotiations over before they even started, once Europe took up its position?

Would Europe even exist, if this nation hadn’t expended the lifeblood of its people, and its treasure,

rekindling the light of freedom, all across Europe?

Didn’t this nation, in the lives of many now living, stand alone, against Europe’s dictator? If we

did it once, can we not do it again? Shouldn’t we harken to the words of Shakespeare’s Henry V?

“… He that hath no stomach to this fight,

Let him depart, his passport shall be made,

And crowns for convoy put into his purse,

We would not die in that man’s company,

That fears his fellowship to die with us…”
