A MALVERN retailer is holding an open day on Saturday, November 18, to mark the completion of a major refurbishment.

Five weeks of hard work at Matalan in the town's retail park on Roman Way has resulted in a completely refurbished store, and the 65-strong store team is looking forward to welcoming back its customers.

Lee Smith, assistant store manager, said: "It will all be kicking off at 9am, and there will be music and entertainment throughout the day, a stilt-walker, face-painting, Father Christmas, and gifts for the children. Ten shoppers throughout the day will be chosen at random and will get their shopping for free."

He said the refurbishment was probably the biggest change since Matalan set up in Malvern in 2001.

The store has been given a complete overhaul with everything replaced down to the flooring, and now boasts a new lighting department, plus a baby nurture room for mums to feed and change their babies.

He said: "It's been five weeks of controlled chaos, but now we're ready to open our doors to the public. It's a testament to Malvern that the company has made such a major investment."
