A PROFESSIONAL musician, sound engineer and producer whose career has spanned five decades in the music industry has been recognised.

A musical extravaganza was held at the Three Counties Hotel to celebrate 50 years of working in music for Paul Cobbold.

Based in Hereford, Paul started out as a bass player, later becoming the in-house engineer/producer at Chapel Lane Studio and subsequently the legendary Rockfield Studios in Monmouth throughout the late 70s, 80s and 90s.

He later taught music technology for 14 years at the RNC, designing and equipping the six teaching recording studios.

Many of his past students travelled from various parts of the country to attend the evening along with the many bands that he has been involved in and with throughout his career.

On the night he played bass with Paul Daffurn and with his current covers/party band Rawthentic.

Herefordshire musician Ria Parfitt's ‘January Girl’ and ‘The Boogie Men’ also played to an enthralled party crowd.
