HEREFORDSHIRE will once again pay tribute to those who have lost their lives fighting for our country.

A number of services, remembrance events and parades will take place this weekend to mark Remembrance Sunday in tribute to the lost service personnel.

Leominster

Uniformed groups organised by the Royal British Legion will begin their parade from Broad Street at 10.30am, walking through Church Street and into the Priory Church.

Those at the Priory will be seated at 10.45am. The parade will then head to the war memorial near the Grange at 11.45am and a civic parade will follow.

The laying of the wreaths at the memorial will take place at 12noon before the final parade begins through town to the Leominster Sports and Social Club where refreshments will be served.

Hereford

Hereford City Council and the Mayor of Hereford will mark Armistice Day on November 11. There will be a two-minute silence and a short Act of Remembrance on Saturday, November 11 at 10.55am at the war memorial in St Peter’s Square, Hereford.

The Mayor will be led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, Revd Sharon Elson and everyone is welcome to attend.

Remembrance Sunday The annual Royal British Legion service for Remembrance Day will be taking place at the war memorial in St Peter’s Square on Sunday.

Crowds are expected to be substantial to see the Deputy Lieutenant, the Chairman of Herefordshire Council and the Mayor joined by representatives of the armed services and other uniformed organisations lay wreaths and observe the two minutes silence.

Together with the standards of the Legion, many veterans organisations will be gathering to commemorate those from the city and county who gave their lives for our peace and freedom on both world wars and many other conflicts. Anyone who wishes to share in the service of remembrance is welcome to attend.

Ross-on-Wye

On November 11 at 10.45am for 11am an Act of Remembrance, Flag Raising and two minute silence will be held at the Market House -two maroons will mark the start and finish of silence. On November 12 at 10.45am for 11am there will be an Act of Remembrance and wreath laying at the St Mary’s Church Prospect gardens war memorial followed by a church service in St Mary’s Church at approximately 11.30am. Gather at the police station at 10am if you wish to march If you wish to lay wreaths, please report to Mary at the Prospect when you arrive.

Ledbury

On Armistice Day, Saturday November 11, there will be a short service of remembrance at the war memorial at 10.55am.

Then on Sunday, at 10.45am the parade and act of remembrance will take place at the war memorial followed by a service at the parish church.

An exhibition about Ledbury and the Great War is also on at the parish church between November 4 and 12, between 10am and 4pm daily except during services.

Bromyard

The Remembrance Day commemoration starts with a parade through the streets of Bromyard at 2.45pm on November 12. The parade makes its way to St Peter's church where a service takes place at 3pm to commemorate the fallen of both world wars and more recent conflicts.

Kington

A remembrance service will be held at 10am at the Baptist Church.

Following the service at around 10.40am a march will take place from the church to the town’s cenotaph for the laying of wreaths.
