HEREFORD manager Pete Beadle has confirmed he has already made enquiries with a couple of players as he looks to replace James Bowen.

The left-back has signed for Solihull Moors after the National League outfit put in a seven-day approach for the 21-year-old last Monday.

Beadle said that he did not agree with Bowen's decision after being told of the news today, but would not stand in his way.

Midfielder Rob Purdie said he was surprised Bowen had left.

"It came out the blue to us," said Purdie.

"He sent us a message on the chat and said he was off.

"We were a little bit surprised.

"People come and go and if you look at the evolution of the club, Beads will be looking to bring in the right man.

"People have different agendas.

"If you're young, you might want to move on and play as high as you can, whereas some players want to stay and build something here.

"And if players don't want to play here, then fair play and we'll bring someone in who does.

"I think everybody here is fighting for a place because they know where the club can go and be part of its history and where it should be."

Meanwhile, Bowen has taken to social media to speak about the move, saying it was a tough decision to leave Hereford.

"Just want to thank everyone at Hereford FC - management, players and the fans," said Bowen.

"I wouldn't have been the player I am without everyone's help.

"I decided to make the move to test myself at a higher level.

"It was a hard decision, especially as the team are doing so well.

"All the best for the future, and once again, thanks for all the support and best wishes."
