LEOMINSTER are up to second place in De Cymru & The Marches 1 of the GoCrea8 Hockey League after thrashing county rivals Hereford 5-1.

A first half performance full of speed, strength and skill saw Leominster score five unanswered goals.

Nicko Evans struck twice, with Josh Watkins, Steve Dobson and Barney Morgan also on target.

Hereford keeper Jim Wallis made a number of good saves in the second half before the home side netted a consolation goal.

The defeat leaves Hereford in ninth spot.

Elsewhere in the division, third-placed Ross-on-Wye drew 2-2 at Whitchurch Seconds.

In The Marches 1, Hereford Seconds lost 4-1 at Newent Seconds, while in The Marches 2, Leominster Seconds thrashed Cirencester Fourths 9-0 and Ross Seconds hammered Lansdown Fourths 10-0.

In the West Club's Women's League, Hereford enjoyed a 2-0 North Division win at Westberries Seconds, but Leominster were demolished 18-1 at Cirencester.

Hereford Seconds also lost, going down 2-1 to East Gloucestershire, while Colwall & Malvern saw off Ross-on-Wye 2-1 in Severn Division 2.

Colwall & Malvern Seconds lost 4-1 to Lansdown Thirds in Severn Division 3.
