HEREFORD Lads Club player-manager Danny Moon believes his team will become much stronger now following a stunning 5-4 win at Malvern Town in West Midlands (Regional) League Premier Division.

Moon scored twice and had an assist in another goal after coming on to replace striker Dan Herbert.

And with players coming back, Moon is confident his team can kick on.

"I think our season will start properly in November," said Moon.

"We're adjusting to life in this league slowly, but it's a long season.

"Darren Andrews played 30 minutes on Saturday for the first time in about six months after injuring his ankle ligaments.

"Jordan Burke and Kalum Wildig are also back, while we've got a lad called Adam Hockey was a scholar at Cheltenham.

"We've beaten some good sides in this league, but we've got to beat the teams at the bottom and not concede as many goals."

Moon felt Saturday's win summed up his side's season.

"We dominated the game and hit the crossbar, but after 20 minutes we're somehow 2-0 down," said Moon.

"But we played really well and went ahead before hitting the bar again.

"Their keeper has pulled off two or three saves and in the end 5-4 flatted them.

"But we conceded four goals, which we need to stop."

After Malvern went 2-0 up, Lads Club pulled a goal back through Matt Maturi.

The home side regained their two goal advantage before an own goal made it 3-2 to Malvern at half time.

Lads Club equalised at the start of the second half thanks to a Moon header before the player-manager slotted home from a Maturi free-kick to put his side 4-3 up.

Kiea Cowley then made it 5-3 before Malvern scored again,

However, Lads Club held on for the win.

Moon's team were due to face Wellington this weekend, but it has been postponed due to Wellington's involvement in the FA Vase.

Wellington – who lost 4-0 to Black Country Rangers last Saturday – are home to Desborough Town.

Pegasus Juniors, meanwhile, lost 1-0 to Ellesmere Rangers, while in Division One, Bromyard Town went down 2-1 to Darlaston Town and Kington Town were beaten 3-0 by Gornal Athletic.
