A SHELTER which provides accommodation to homeless people during the winter will re-open at the end of the November.
The shelter first started at St Peter's Church House in St Peter's Close in Hereford in 2009.
It initially provided overnight accommodation to men who were sleeping rough but in 2015 also provided space for women.
St Peter’s Winter Shelter will re-open on November 27 and run until March 11.
As in previous years basic overnight accommodation for people sleeping rough will be provided - the shelter is able to accommodate a maximum of 16 men and three women each night.
Last year, 65 people (58 men and seven women) used the shelter.
The shelter also provide hot drinks, showers and laundry of clothes.
They receive donations of clothes which they can then supply if needed. They can only use items such as jackets, hoodies, sweat shirts, socks, jeans, and T-shirts.
In the shelter, guests have the opportunity to see the outreach housing officer who helps them to find more permanent homes.
Funding for the shelter to pay for the staff salaries, heating, lighting etc. comes from a variety of sources including local charities, Herefordshire Council, as well as donations.
