EASTLEIGH manager Richard Hill refused to speak to the Hereford Times following his side's FA Cup defeat to Hereford yesterday.

Despite Hereford being in red-hot form, many people felt that Eastleigh would win the fourth qualifying round tie, especially as they play two leages above the Bulls and had home advantage,

But Hereford fully deserved to win and won the game thanks to goals from Mike McGrath and Garyn Preen, while Eastleigh had two players sent off.

This newspaper asked Hill for his thoughts following the game, but he said he didn't want to speak to us, adding that the only quote we could use was; ''well done Hereford'.

However, Hill did talk to media outlets from the Eastleigh/Southampton area.

Speaking to Radio Solent, Hill said he wasn't happy with referee Carl Brook's performance.

"Everybody is going to go away and say we didn't play particularly well," said Hill.

"There were instances in that game where you couldn't fault the effort, perhaps you could fault the quality a little bit at times.

"But we were chasing a game of football with ten-men, which is always going to be hard.

"We go one goal down from a questionable free kick, and it was questionable whether it was even a free kick in the first place.

"I can't say much about that because I'm making excuses, but it wasn't a free kick."

Andrew Boyce was sent off in the first half when he brought down Mike Symons when the Hereford striker was through on goal before Gavin Hoyte was dismissed near the end for a similar offence.

"Was Boyce the last man?," asked Hill.

"He's still got to beat the goalkeeper. Another week you'd see that as a yellow.

"The second red for me is just how he's been perceived.

"I could come on here and slaughter the referee, but I'd get in trouble."

Eastleigh are also struggling in the National League, languishing in 18th position.

"f you're looking for a bit of luck in the FA Cup, I'm not your man," added Hill.

"I've never had any in my career, but we've lost another game of football.

"It doesn't matter if it's the FA Cup or what, we've lost another game."
