INCLEMENT weather was no obstacle for Malvern Triathlon Club members.

They entered three separate events, the Langorse Big Swim in the Brecon Beacons, the Malvern Mad Hatter Sportiff and the Mud Bath 10k at Eastnor Castle.

Langorse Lake, opened once a year only for swimmers, was a chilly 15 degrees for Malvern's Mark Turner alongside 58 others undertaking the six-kilometre distance in two hours one minute 15 seconds at an average of 30 minutes per mile.

Fifty-five competitors entered the 3km race including Lorraine Brooks in 1.18.41 10 minutes faster than last year, Maria Dineen in 59.34 for fourth lady overall, Dave Dutton in 1.18.43 despite not being able to swim last year and Andrew Rickard in 1.20.

In the 1.5km event 60 competitors included Tina McAulay in 33.28 and Helen Robson in 42.51.

Natalie Watson came to the event with Rickard and Keith Evans and entered the 4.5km alongside 18 others, finishing third female in 1.35.20.

Malvern Mad Hatter Sportive was set around rural roads shared between the three counties of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and Gloucestershire with tough climbs, fast descents and amazing views.

Inclement conditions prevailed and were endured by six members completing the standard 65-mile distance in Ally Pemberton (7.34.59), Clifford Berry (4.30.17), Jayne Ackroyd (4.40.40), Jim Hancox (4.36.25), Tim Day-Thompson (4.29.55) and Gary Lambert (4.43.06).

Completing the epic 100 miles was Steve James in 7.34.05.

Wayne Gualter alongside hundreds of other muddy runners completed the Mud Bath in 1.21.38.
