THE junior section of Brockhampton Cricket Club celebrated a fine season by holding a presentation evening.

First team coach Matt Bullock presented awards to players from under-7 to under-15 levels, with the club's achievements highlighted.

More than 130 juniors now play at Brockhampton, the largest number in the club's history, with nearly a third being girls.

Some of the girls have been playing regularly their age groups, while some of the under-15s have featured for both the ladies and men's fourth team.

The club have also seen a number of under-15 and under-13 boys playing for the senior sides, including the first team.

Last season, the under-9s were runners-up in the South Division, missing out on top spot by just five points, while the under-11s, 13s and 15s all won their respective leagues and went on tot eh County Finals.

The Under-11s and 15s went on to become county champions, while the under-13 had to share the spoils with Burghill, Tillington & Weobley due to the weather preventing the final being completed.

However, earlier in the season, they did win the Under-13 County Cup.

β€œIt has been an amazing season and truly overwhelming to see the number of young people and families at training on a Friday night," said youth section co-ordinator Tracey Denny.

"The standard of cricket that we have seen during matches has been fantastic, with so many young players making great progress.

"I would like to thank all of the parents, the coaches and the club for all of their support this season.

"We are already planning for next summer and look forward to building on this years successes.”
