KNIVES in bin bags which had been discarded near a residential street were found by children.
Police Community Support Officer Lisa Austin told Ross-on-Wye Town Council that children had found two knives in black bin liners at the bottom of a field near to Bluebell Close in Ross.
The member of the public who called the police had taken the knives off the children and discarded them.
PCSO Austin said the bin bags were full of household rubbish and added: "It was a health hazard at the time and we reported it to the council for them to remove."
Chairman of the town council, Nigel Gibbs, said a further knife was then found within the bags. The bags have now been removed by the town council's maintenance team.
At the meeting, Cllr Gibbs handed the knife, along with another knife found at the skate park, to PCSO Austin so she could dispose of them.
