IN the Customer Service award category we have turned our focus to The Courtyard in Hereford.

The award will be presented to the HBID member business that has provided the best service to the customers/visitors to Hereford city.

The nomination said: "The Courtyard has various strands of customer facing roles, all of which exceed patron's expectations by providing exceptional customer service. From knowledgeable and friendly Box Office staff, to enthusiastic front of house staff, fantastic volunteers and polite and helpful cafe bar staff, we always ensure our most positive, optimistic side is beaming."

The Courtyard attracts more than 250,000 visitors every year, not just from within the county, but also from the West Midlands and further afield.

The application added: "One way the Courtyard is able to deliver outstanding customer service is by looking at individual needs and how we can tailor customer service to suit this. As Herefordshire's community arts hub, we're hugely committed to making our venue accessible to everyone.

"One way we demonstrate this is by training all of our staff to be Dementia Friends."

They aim to create a climate of kindness and understanding, so that everyone affected by dementia feels part of, not apart from, society.

The nomination also said: "On a more specific note, there have been times box office staff have read out a whole film guide over the phone to someone unable to navigate the website, moved seats at the last minute for people who need different access requirements and Cafe Bar are renowned for accommodating any request: if it can be done, it will be.

"The Courtyard box office, front of house and Cafe Bar teams are always receiving gifts, letters and other gestures of appreciation due to the phenomenal work they put in, to not only keeping the business running smoothly, but also keeping all visitors happy. We strive to create a warm, inclusive and accessible environment for all."
