GEOGRAPHY students at one county high school have received the ultimate recognition for their environmental work.

The year-seven pupils at Fairfield High School have been learning about different types of farming this year, including how to protect the environment.

As part of their project, some students have been working in their lunch and break times growing things from seed in the school greenhouse and flower-beds.

They grew two sets of produce – one organic and one using fertilisers before comparing the two.

As a result of their interest and dedication to the environment they have been awarded the green Eco Blue Peter badge.

Teacher, Helen Rodgers, said: "The students who gave up their break and lunchtimes to look after the plants showed real dedication and we are very proud of them all and their commitment to the environment."
