A 29-YEAR-old who was caught driving with cocaine in his system said he lost control of his car because he sneezed.

Benjimin Revell, of Dymock Red Walk in Holmer, Hereford crashed his car into a ditch on the A4103, near to Hereford at 6.40am on May 13.

Police were called and a road side saliva test was carried out, which tested positive for cocaine.

At Herefordshire Magistrates Court, Revell pleaded guilty to two charges relating to the offence- one of having 12mg of cocaine (limit is 10mg) in his blood and another of having 309mg of the cocaine metabolite benzoylecgonine in his blood (the legal limit is 50mg).

The court heard he had been out in Worcester celebrating a friend's promotion and had got up in the morning to drive home.

He said he had sneezed while driving which meant he lost control of his car.

Revell was fined £461 and ordered to pay £135 costs and a victim surcharge of £46. He was disqualified from driving for three years, as it was his second driving offence within ten years.
