A WOMAN in her 60s who was suffering from Alzheimer's disease died after falling down the stairs.
Elaine Bennett of Marston, Pembridge was 66 when she passed away on April 14 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.
The inquest at Herefordshire Coroner's Court heard that at 6.15am on the same day she had got up to go to the bathroom but following this, she fell down the stairs.
Her husband heard the fall and found her at the bottom of the stairs.
The inquest heard Mrs Bennett had been suffering with Alzheimer's disease for the last six or seven years.
A post mortem revealed she died from a devastating traumatic brain injury, and also noted polytrauma and Alzheimer's disease.
Her husband, Richard, said his wife was 62 when she retired as a secretary at Herefordshire Council, as it appeared that the disease was progressing.
He said she had experienced three falls on previous occasions.
Coroner Mark Bricknell recorded an accidental death.
Her family said: "She was a very caring mum and grandmother, who loved her two grandchildren, Aaron and Marcie, very much."
