HEREFORDSHIRE YFC (HFYFC) once again came out on top at the Royal Three Counties Show.

There were more than 50 competitions making up the YFC section – but the county youngsters submitted an entry in every single section to come away with the Lord Lieutenant Challenge Cup for the overall winners for the sixth year running.

HFYFC also took the majority of the trophies including the Chiv and Jonny Fun Cup, the Meat Traders trophy for Carcase judging as well as the stock judging trophy and the Warwick House trophy for domestic competitions.

Meanwhile, Dilwyn's Tim Downes Hopkins did not win but certainly made an impression when he finished third in the ‘Dress Up as Adam Henson’ contest and met the man himself.

County chairman Fay Thomas thanked all members for their hard work, time and effort in all competitions and the YFC section committee for putting on a fantastic display of competitions over the three days of the show.

The Three Counties Show also hosted some of the West Midland Area competitions.

Teme Valley represented HFYFC in the Cube Exhibit to the theme of ‘Around the World’.

A mix of Dilwyn and Golden Valley Young Farmers took part in the Efficiency with Safety competition also gaining first place.

These competitors will be going to the National Finals which are being held on Saturday in Staffordshire when Herefordshire will also be represented in Junior Public Speaking and Junior Reading, Fence Erecting and Clay Pigeon Shooting.
