A FANTASTIC time was had by all at this year's Hampton Bishop Church Fete.

Organisers were blessed with wonderful weather and a record attendance. Vast quantities of refreshments were consumed, and the stalls did a roaring trade. There was the usual wonderful warm community spirit; old friendships were renewed and new ones made.

Vicar, Nick Armstrong, playing BBC Top Gear's, The Stig, arrived in style driving a beautiful open top E Type Jaguar. Convicted of being a jolly good chap, Nick was then sentenced to time in the stocks and pelted with wet sponges!

Organisers cannot adequately thank everyone involved. As well as the volunteers who were seen working so hard in the heat on the day, there was a small army of behind the scene helpers.

Many spent weeks in preparations, lent or built vital props, equipment and all sorts of other paraphernalia. Others so generously donated the draw prizes, and goods for the stalls.

Organisers would also like to thanks the Fire and Rescue Service, Hereford Ukulele Group, Herefordshire Wildlife Trust, Herefordshire Mammal Group, Herefordshire Model Aero Club and Eardisley Croquet Club.

Over £3000 was raised towards the huge cost of maintaining the village's beautiful and ancient church.
