A COUPLE who were married in the same year as the Queen are celebrating their platinum anniversary.
Edward and Jean Watkins married on June 28, 1947, five months before Prince Philip married the Queen.
They have three children, Donald, Lesley and David, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
They were both born in Hereford and have lived in Roman Road for 40 years.
During Mr Watkins' career he mostly worked as a long distance driver and Mrs Watkins, 90, was a stay at home mum.
Mr Watkins, who is 92 on July 1, said: "It is important to give and take, to compromise. We have had a very happy marriage."
