ONE county bride knew just how to make an entrance at her wedding – by rocking up to church in a huge lorry owned by her husband-to-be.

Emily Worth and Jamie Duggan, both 25, met and fell in love as teenagers at an auto grass meeting at Hampton Bishop nine years ago.

On Saturday (June 24) the pair, who live in Marden, tied the knot at St Dubricius and All Saints Church in Hamnish – with Emily arriving in gown and veil at the wheel of a Volvo lorry.

Her bridegroom, who at just 18 became the youngest HGV driver in the UK, is running the newly established business, J.E. Duggan Transport, from a vehicle centre at nearby Moreton-on-Lugg, where their fleet has already grown to three J.E. Duggan lorries including the new Volvo which took the wedded pair to their reception at Kimbolton Village Hall.

The five bridesmaids were transported in the two others, another Volvo and a Scania.

Emily said: "We had a fantastic day. It was lovely. You could see me in there and we had balloons in there as well so everybody could see when we were coming up the A49 – there was a convoy of us.

"It was a huge entrance. They made me steps to get out of the lorry. It's lovely for Jamie because he has just started the business. He was the youngest person to pass his test and has to be probably one of the youngest to start his own business. He has basically got Diesel in his blood."

The new business has contracts to haul steel into local fabricators in Leominster as well as visiting many farms in the county to collect loads of the valuable potato crop.

There will be no honeymoon period, according to Emily, until the apples have all reached the cider makers and the seasonal farm haulage side of the business is wrapped up for the winter.

She will continue her job as an office worker at a Hereford garage while Jamie and his co drivers continue to keep the Duggan waggons rolling.
