EARLIER in the year Ross Rotary Club president, Richard Williams, chose Salters Hill to be his local charity of the year. Salters Hill describe their mission as being to care, support and provide opportunities for people with disabilities thus creating the right environment for them to develop independence, confidence and wellbeing.

On June 15 a group of 22 clients from Salters Hill, including some of the support workers, were invited by Ross Rotary Club president to spend a day with two friends of Rotary, Pat Dazeley and Jenny Green, aboard one of The Willow Trust's boats for a cruise on the Gloucester and Sharpness Canal.

It was a really great day out with beautiful weather and everyone enjoyed the relaxing cruise and the picnic lunch on the canal side, which was provided by Ross Rotary Club.

The Willow Trust is a charity that offers freedom on the water for the disabled by providing days out for children and adults with learning and physical disabilities as well for those with a serious illness. The Trust has two specifically adapted boats based at Saul Junction, and guests can safely enjoy the excitement of adventure and the therapy of tranquility in beautiful surroundings with the added benefit of it being totally free of charge.

Ross Rotary Club meets every Monday evening 6.30pm for 7pm at the Chase Hotel. Guests and potential members are very welcome. Please visit our website at rossrotary.com
