MORE than £19,000 was raised for two county charities following a fundraising show by Jo Brand.

A patron of both Megan Baker House and The Courtyard, Jo returned to Hereford on to perform in a joint fundraiser which was supported by Heineken.

A total of 700 people attended the two shows which saw the star and writer of BBC’s BAFTA award winning series Getting On supported by comedian Andy Robinson.

The Courtyard and Megan Baker House will both receive around £9,700 from the fundraiser to support their ongoing charity work.

Melanie Denning, fundraising manager at The Courtyard, said: "It was great to have Jo Brand back with us for the fundraiser and both charities really appreciate the fact that Jo and her support act Andy Robinson took time out of their busy schedules to support us in this way."

Lee Gough, chief executive of Megan Baker House, added: "It was certainly a fun night of fundraising with so much goodwill. We raised a magnificent total, so huge thanks to everyone who attended."
