TWO collection points have been set up in Hereford and Leominster for those wishing to donate to the victims of the London tower block fire.

The blaze at Grenfell Tower in West London tragically killed at least 12 people, with police stating the death toll is likely to rise.

Many more are receiving treatment in hospitals and those who fled the burning building have been at makeshift shelters in the area, having been left with nothing.

The Grapes Pub on East Street, Hereford, and Spencer-Brookes Designs on West Street, Leominster, are taking donations of clothes, nappies, food, toiletries, cash, baby equipment, toys, bed linen and anything else which might be needed.

Everything will be sent to emergency liaison officer Maggie Evans to distribute to the emergency centres in London.

Both collection points have already been overwhelmed by the support received from local residents.

Charlotte Bordewey, from Spencer Brookes Design, said: "It's that thought of - 'they have got nothing'.

"We moan about having to put the washing out or there being too much stuff at home but they don't even have a wallet to go and buy a drink.

"I think people just feel or see that helplessness and think 'I need to do something'."

The items being collected will help those affected by the fire over the coming weeks.
