PARENTS of a nine-year-old boy have spoken about how Megan Baker House has changed the life of their son.

Archie Pilliner, who has dyspraxia, has been attending sessions at the charity's centre near Leominster for four years.

Once a child who lacked confidence, the help he has received from MBH has played a huge part in shaping the popular, thriving youngster he is today.

His parents, Zoe and Terry Pilliner, said: "Prior to beginning his sessions at MBH, Archie had limited motor skills and strength and often could not walk any distance without tripping up and falling over.

"As parents it used to make us so anxious and we felt the pain and distress that he was going through. At school sports day, he was always the little boy who could not complete the games or finished last. It was heartbreaking to see our son experiencing these difficulties without anyone having insight into how we could make things easier for him."

But, within just a very short period of time after attending Megan Baker House, Archie had his 'sparkle back'.

As a result of attending MBH, he is a very settled child and is reportedly 'where he needs to be both academically and socially'.

"We know that Archie will experience difficulties in his life, but without the support that staff at MBH have offered our son along with the support and encouragement that we have received to care for our son, I feel that things would be very different and we cannot thank MBH enough," Mr and Mrs Pilliner said.

"Archie volunteers to collect money for MBH at supermarkets – that is marker to how his confidence has grown. There often is not a week goes by where we notice that Archie is accomplishing things.

"Archie is very popular boy and shows more confidence in himself as he grows through his childhood.

"I think back to where we were with Archie prior to attending MBH, and the simple fact is that we cannot thank everybody at MBH enough.

"Archie has gone from a five-year-old boy who lacked confidence and would often tumble or trip on a regular basis, was often laughed at and not picked for any activities to recently captaining his rugby under 10 team at Luctonians at a recent festival in Worcester.

"Words cannot describe how much support and changes that MBH has made to our sons life ."
