A DRUNK teenager kicked a police officer who had stopped her pulling another woman's hair, a court heard.

Stephanie Lunt, 19, of Blanchard Close, Leominster, pleaded guilty to being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a constable in the execution of their duty.

Peter Love, prosecuting, at Hereford Magistrates Court said that PC Holder was on patrol in Hereford City Centre on May 14.

"PC Holder was outside The Kerry at 4.30am and about 40 metres away from her two women appeared to be fighting with a man trying to restrain one of them," said Mr Love.

"When she got closer PC Holder noticed that the two woman had hold of each others hair. The officer separated the two and neither woman wanted to make a complaint.

"The officer tried to calm Lunt down and she was told to stop shouting and pointing at the other woman. The officer was trying to calm the situation down when Lunt threw her handbag in the direction of the other woman which nearly hit the officer.

"The defendant was clearly drunk, was stumbling about and had been sick on her black jeans."

Lunt was arrested for being drunk and disorderly and struggled with the officer before being put in a police van.

"As PC Holder turned away the defendant kicked out at her and kicked her in the left leg which caused a dead leg although no lasting injury was caused," added Mr Love.

Marilena Di Vitantonio, mitigating, said that Lunt had no recollection of the incident.

"She can't explain why she behaved that way," said Miss Di Vitantonio.

"She apologises for her behaviour and accepts that the officers have a job to do and is completely embarrassed by her behaviour."

Lunt was ordered to pay a £100 fine, £50 compensation to PC Holder, £100 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
